Writing
Elizabeth Rose Murray writes novels, short stories, essays and poetry for children, young adults and adults. Her books include The Book of Learning – Nine Lives Trilogy 1 (2016 Dublin UNESCO Citywide Read for Children, included on the Junior Cycle English reading list and optioned for film), The Book of Shadows – Nine Lives Trilogy 2 (shortlisted 2016 Irish Book Awards and 2016 Irish Literacy Association Award), The Book of Revenge – Nine Lives Trilogy 3 (Feb 2018) and Caramel Hearts (May 2016).
Recent publications include a five-part Legends of the Land children’s audio story series for SKODA, plus poetry, essays and stories in the following anthologies/journals; I Am the Wind (ROI), Wild Wonders (ROI), Women on Nature (ed. Katherine Norbury, UK), Reading the Future (ROI), Mslexia (UK), Terrain (CA), The Elysian: Creative Responses (ROI), Trasna (US), York Literary Review (UK), Not Very Quiet (AUS), Here Comes Everyone (UK), Autonomy (ROI), Popshots (UK), Banshee (ROI), Ropes (ROI), Paper Lanterns (ROI), Channel Magazine (ROI), Waxed Lemon (ROI) and Ponder Review (U.S.).
Elizabeth also facilitates hundreds of workshops and events in schools, bookshops, festivals and libraries each year, encouraging creativity and a love of reading and storytelling. She is part of the Poetry Ireland Writers in Schools scheme and is a Children’s Books Ireland ‘Champion of Reading’ for three-years as part of the ‘Every Child A Reader’ project. Elizabeth has recently been accepted on the 2024-27 Heritage in School panel and works with a number of organisations including the Irish Writers Centre, Big Smoke Writing Factory, Writing.ie, and Moli.
